Widest rim size on '06 STi??

Whats the widest rim that would fit on a 2006 STi?

I think widest tire is more the question. I think you can fit 245's w/ out rolling your fenders.

You can fit 265s with a careful wheel choice, and you can run 255s on the stock wheels. That said, you chould be able to run 17x9s *if* they have the proper offset and tire choice.

what about a 18 inch wheel? what kind of offset would be ideal?

It depends on the width of the wheel and tire.

And rim diameter doesn't matter, except that you get fewer and fewer tire size choices that work as you go larger.

Would it be safe to say that a wheel that will not clear the brakes in a 17" because of the spoke design might clear them if it was a 18" wheel.

Just curious.

Not really. It would usually be safe to say that 17" wheels that don't clear big brakes on the dianeter would probably fit in 18". But since 17" and 18" are of course different castings or forgings, the larger ones won't necessarily fit more brakes.
