Well... I'm not trying to cause an arguement here. No need for anyone to get nasty. I was just raising a simple question. As for the weight of 19s... 24 lbs didnt seem bad to me being that many 17' wheels are close to that weight unless you get special light weight ones that are quite expensive.

I know pretty much any wheel i put on my car will lessen my power somewhat but i dont think it will take me down to the level of an RS. It seems like a Cobb reflash or equivilant will zero out any loss from rims.

I would be interested to know if anyone has been to the track before and after adding rims and what the effect was.

All Rota wheels are under 19lbs for 17" sizes. They are about as cheap as you can get. 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels are around 15-16lbs in 17x8 and cost around $200 apiece, hardly expensive. I bought OZ Superleggeras when they first came out for $260 each, I'm sure they can be bought for cheaper now. They weigh about 16lbs in 17x7. Those 19s will be much more expensive than any of those options, and way heavier. But if that's what you want, go for it. Personally, I love the way the WRX looks with 17s or 18s and springs, and 19s are just overdoing it.

what are the specs on the wheels? off set and width?

they are 19x8 with 35, 40 or 45 mm offsets.

you might also want to consider the tire cost. 19" tire options are gonna be very limited. The ones you do find will be very soft compounds. Meaning 2 things:

1 - you will have to replace them more quickly

2 - they will be pricey when you do

all around - 18s seem to be the way to go.

I've got 19's with 35 series tires and I have to switch freeways everytime they're doing construction. It's noisy, you have to live in fear of potholes, and I can't take turns as fast as I want. Gonna go buy me a new set of rims.

I personally think even 18's are too big for WRX. 17's look perfect with nice wide tire with fatty sidewall.

on a nice drop 17's look perfect...and the ride is gonna SUCK if you get 19's.

i had 18's, i loved how it looked, but i eventually switched to 17's for the ride and potholes. like imprezer said a nice wide fatty 17" is the way to go.

I don't intend to flame your decision, but as long as you aren't ignorant in your approach, please take the time to consider the following...

18's definitely do the job when it comes to appearance, they are give the car a sense of balance in relation to the size... But personally I'd go with 17's because it costs less, looks just as nice (depending on the color you get), and is more comfortable... Tires cost significantly less as well... 17s are becoming almost a new 'standard' so tire prices arent too far off 15s and 16s, its pretty impressive if you ask me

About the 19s, they look monstrous and maybe add an aggressive touch, but jesus wept @ 24lbs, thats by no means a HEAVY wheel for its size, but its too heavy for this car. It will be hard on your bearings, your ***, and the chance of bending a wheel is a lot higher if you clip a curb, or hit a pothole...

Before you drop a significant amount of money on these wheels, consider this:

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND LOOKING AT YOUR CAR VS THE TIME YOU SPEND DRIVING IT?

To each their own, but the WRX is a drivers car, it is by no means pretty, and not meant to be either... If you wanted pretty, for the same money you could have scooped up a 350Z which is visually sexy (but something that just isnt up to par with my DRIVING standards)

You will be driving on these wheels a lot more than sitting and looking at them. If you're buying these for show points, you might as well get spinners and wow those who are looking at your car (or make them laugh in my case). If you enjoy a rough ride from a stock suspension and the constant worry that you might hit a pothole (in which you will feel every single one) and you feel like replacing tires every 6 months, get the 19s...

If you want to keep that grin on your face, mash the pedal once in a while, and enjoy the comfort of your car, with additional handling benefits coming from larger wheels, get some 17s that weigh close to stock wheels (i.e.: Rotas)

All that I ask is that you consider why you purchased a Subaru Impreza WRX... Was it a purchase equivilant to a painting that you hang up for display for image purposes?(get the 19s) Or was it the performance, mechanical build, solid feel, handling, safety, and comfort?(get some 17s, max 18s)

Compare this say to DATING WOMEN, answering the following will help your decision... Would you rather walk around with a hot chick, like a 9/10, who has a bad attitude, slutty, and someone who cant be trusted?<- those are your 19s, good looks, but no substance! Or would you rather be with a 7/10 who respects you, makes you smile doesnt lie to you, and is loyal? <- Those are your 17s, beautiful enough (maybe her ******* arent as big), functional, and there is no negative aspect to it.

i know somone who puts 20's on his wrx for shows... custom nitto neogen tire.... if your on a show on the east coast look for a silver WRX in konig's booth
