Its time to ditch the stock tires on the STi. What size tire should be put on the stock rim? (but have the cash for wheels) I am thiking about getting SO-3's of G-force KDW's.

Thanks,

if you want to try something wider, i'd get 245-40-17. its closer to stock diameter than 235-40-17 so that gearing, mph, and odo readings dont get affected. otherwise, i'd stick with 225-45-17 the stock size. but i will always remember what one driving instructor said, it was something like, "unless you are sliding through every corner on the track, you dont need anything wider."

I'd defintely grab some 245/40 KDs. In fact, that's the front runner right now in my deliberations over autocross tires this year. If you live in a rainy area though, I'd stick to S03s. KDs are horrible in rain, even worse than RE070s.

What about the Dunlop Super Sport Race tires? They seem to have great ratings and for the price of SO-3's I can get Dunlops and a down pipe.

Those are strictly meant for track/autocross use. You'd burn through them much too fast on the street. They also would not be so good in the rain or cold.

I went with 235/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and they work awesome.
