High Performance All Season Tires
If you haven't bought tires yet, take a look at the Continental ContiExtremeContact tires at the Tirerack web page. They are very highly rated in EVERTHING which seems impossible to me.
I bought a set and have yet to draw a opinion. They seemed excellent in the rain at high speeds. I kicked for 215-55-16 size since my indicated speed at 70 was really 69 mph with the 205 stockers.
My only concern was one needed 2.5 oz. to balance. I might take it back to the shop and have the tire rotated 180 on the wheel then rebalanced.

Car Info: Not a WRX any more . . .
I was tempted by the Continental tires, but if you look, the miles reported on Tire Rack are a fraction of the other tires, so the numbers are probably not reliable yet. (Although they are higher than when I last bought tires.) Wait until the miles get over a million and see how they are doing then. I'm not saying they aren't good tires, just that you might take the numbers with a grain of salt. (Tire rack should include estimated errors . . . I guess that's an exercise left to the reader.)
I run Bridgestone RE950s on the WRX and the Jetta, but I have no experience with them in snow . . . I would not expect them to do terribly well. On dry and wet pavement I'm quite happy with them. (I used to have only Pirelli's, but those become frictionless when they meet snow.)

Tyres???
Well I can tell you that my experiences are very good with the Bridgestone S-03. It's a perfect tyre on the wet (very usefull in Holland) but it's even better on dry roads. The sides are very stiff so that makes it a perfect tyre for a 4X4 like a (tuned) Impreza.
Surely worth a try....

Perhaps... but the S-03s wouldn't do any good in the winter. Just check the Tirerack, they have enough resources to make an educated decision. I've used them 3 times so far. Besides, anything is better than the stock RE-92s.

I purchased a set of RE950's for my rex and I have been very happy with them. If you look at tirerack and do a comparison between the POS RE92's and the RE950's, you will see that the RE950's actually have a better rating in the snow. They work well in the dirt too.
