Stock wheel/tire shudder

Stock wheel/tire shudder
I just got an '03 WRX last week and the second day I drove it I noticed a light shuddering around 70-75Mph....This car still has less than 1,000 miles!!! I also noticed the steering wheel is slightly off-center (clockwise)....Should I just take it back to the dealer to get looked at?? I keep meaning to check the air pressure to see if that is the reason for the shudder....

OMG
I decided to check the tire pressure before going to the dealer and I was amazed at what I found.
The owners manual (and the door sill) says 32 PSI front and 29 PSI rear: from the dealer I had 38 PSI front and 36 PSI rear!!!
What's up with that?? Do they over inflate the tire for transport (on the trucks)?? That's my best guess....anyway, the shudder is now gone...

Soso,
Glad to hear it. Keep your hands on the wheel though, there still might be a problem because the increased air pressure shouldn't affect the balance of the tires. I've run my RE92s at 40psi cold for autocross events and had no shudder at all - even on the highway at 80mph to and from the track.

Thanks for the advice....you are right...
I still do have a very very slight shudder from 65-75mph now instead of just at 70mph....
I am calling the dealer today to bring it in to have that and the (off-center) steering wheel looked at.

soso3- hope you measured the tire while it was cold... its not
unlikely to have those psi after a drive.
in some cases even if you have the steering dialed in perfectly
at noon on the machine, it will still end up 11-clock ish or
1 oclock-ish out on the real roads because roads are slanted
to drain water and the wrx is very sensitive to slanted
surfaces especially with aftermarket sus. just for your info so
that you dont go haywire after the alignment.
let us know how it goes. the shuddering might be from
something as simple as dirt on the tire(s)...or just needs
to be rebalanced.

I drove to the gas station (1/4 mile away) and checked the tire pressure so I believe I got a realitivly accurate measurement.
I noticed the shudder the 2nd day I had the car (and it only had 80 miles @ the time)...
I've checked the steer wheel alignment on several different roads so I know it's not the road itself. My previous car's steering wheel was at 1 o'clock after I had the tie-rods changed, so it doesn't bother me that the WRX's steering wheel is off-center, I'm just concerned it's a sign that something else might be off with the suspension (which is all stock)...
