R-compound tires
Does anyone here run an R-compound tire every day?
Specifically I want to know about either the Toyo RA-1 or the Yokohama Advan A032R. I really want to know about tread life under real driving conditions. I have actually heard that the Yoks have a decent tread life under such conditions, but I wanted to get an opinion from someone here first before I committed to anything.

I consider this frequently. Maybe with a suspension upgrade I could justify it. The Pilot Sport Cup, the P-Zero Corsa, and the A032R are quite tempting. A good answer on longevity would be tough. In my situation, I'd need to get about 20k miles to justify it because I go about 35k per year and spend about 15k on winter tires. I honestly think I could get 10-15k out of those R compounders. Normal 12k per year aggressive drivers would probably get closer to 5k miles, maybe less depending on your route.

I ran Pirelli's P Zero C's on my WRX. One word, sick! Stick like nothing ever I have ever driven on and they lasted surprisingly long. 225/45/17 were just as wide as the 245/40/17's I am running right now. They are true "tarmac" slicks disguised in DOT form. They have a huge sign on the side that said "Dry Only". Haha! That didnt stop me from doing some rainy slides.

RA-1 all the way
Just got a set of these for my track wheels. I drove them on the street for a while before the track. Amazing is all I can say. At full tread, these rock in the rain. I have been told by buddy with tons of racing experience that he once got 18,000 miles out of a set on the steet. He said if I was really lucky, I would get that. I'm not counting on it. His mileage is not common. These are my first R compound tires, so they are obviosly the best stick I have found.
