Have SDRs
Hey chxh8me ,
Can't give any input on the Prodrive's, although I'm sure they're sweet.
I purcahased SDRs from www.oakos.com and they arrived in 2 days of ordering. Great service.
I can tell you that the SDRs have a nice fit and finish, and are a great value. Weight is around 18 lbs. and are probably heavier than the Prodrive's.
There's plenty of pics if you search this site's gallery.
What's important to you?
Cost? Weight? Brand? Strength?

thanks for the info. im looking for cost and strength pretty much. i got a guy at the subaru dealer than can get me a discount on prodrives, but with the GC07s, they are still really expensive. if i go thru him I will most likely get p1s. but i like the looks of the SDRs and GC07s more than the P1s.
plus i like how the SDRs come in 17x7.5. the GC07s come in 18x8 from the dealer. prodrive makes another version that comes in 17x7.5, but it looks like they need to be ordered from japan.

chxh8me,
Rota did have some strength issues with the older model Sub Zeros (do a search for "crack rota") But word is they've have since fixed the problem and the new batches (of Sub Zeros) are better.
Rota has the lion's share of the wheel market for WRX's if you search this and other Subie sites. Actual problems per owner ratio seem very small. I searched a lot of wheels before purchasing, and found Rota's to be well respected in this arena.
Keep in mind I do not race my wagon. It's just a fun way for me to get to the river and back (oh and work too . But a lot of guys here use Rotas as their race specific wheel or even winter wheel (think salt). I bet if there was more than a few complaints about the strength of the Rotas, it would spread quickly throughout the message boards.

The GC07 is a forged wheel, so it is in a completely different league then the Rota (as it should be considering the cost difference).
The key question is what you really want. The Prodrives will have a significant strength advantage for a similar weight. If you are going to put significant loads on the wheel, you may want the extra safety factor, although I concede that many, many people use their Rota wheels hard with no problems. Really it is more of a personal choice.
Myself, I could not afford a high dollar forged wheel and I chose instead the Prodrive P1. It is heavier than similar wheels from Rota (both are cast), but I am happier with a stonger wheel. From my own examinations, I also thought the finish on the P1 was much nicer. But Rota is excellent value.

Of course by far, the Prodrive GC-07s are better rims. However, I think the only real thing that keeps you from buying them would be the price. That's what you get for forged wheels though.
Anyways, the Prodrives if lets say u're racing with them or what not. The Rotas are more for a street version.. a street purpose of the Prodrives if u will...
