one new tire...will it mess up my awd
so i got a screw in my sidewall and i have to replace my left rear tire. i've got 10K miles on my subie and the tread is in great shape (my girlfriend won't let me slide it around too much)
anyways, because i'm only putting on 1 new tire it shouldn't mess up the awd system, right? i'd don't think there is a 1/4" difference in the tread of the new vs. old tires.
any thoughts?

yep, as luke said, if you got tread on your other tires, you're fine.
tires do not wear at the exact same rate during normal wear.
its not unusual to find worn front left tires but not so worn
rear right tires, etc. so a small difference in circumference will
be within allowable limits by the drive train.

Assuming you're on RE92's, you may want to consider buying a second set of OEM wheels for cheap from someone on the board. I've seen sets with 5k-15k miles on them selling for $250ish. It's about twice what a new tire will cost, but then you have an extra set of rims and a replacement tire that is a little closer in wear than a brand new one.
I've got two sets, one with summer tires and the other with Nokian all-seasons for ski season...
Edit: Or just buy the RS wheels for sale right below this thread! The RS wheels look better and they clear bigger brakes!
