New tires & wheels: SQUEAL on fast turns???!!!?
Tried posting this question elsewhere in the forum but it got buried.
So I got my ContiExtremeContact 215/17 and Rota Subzero 17/7/5+48s and have been driving with them for 24 hours.
The handling is generally quite good, the car seems more responsive (WRX 03 Sedan) in general. It also seems smoother and quieter.
However, when I was driving my stock vehicle, which I had done almost nothing to, other than to put in a STi catless up-pipe, I NEVER encountered a turn in which I could make the wheels lose traction, no matter how much I tried.
Now I can get these tires to squeal on a tight turn.
Is this:
1. Higher inflation pressure? I took the car however Subaru sold it to me, probably had the mid/high 20s inflation pressure with stock tires/rims, now they are at 35 psi.
2. Maybe I'm unconsciously taking the turns faster? I don't think so but if the car unconsciously makes me feel more confident in its stability, maybe this is possible.
3. Other... please say. Also, suggestions??? I'd rather that the tires not lose traction in hard cornering, obviously.

I suggest you drive them easy for a while. New tires are squirmey because they still have some of the mold release compound on them. You should take it easy with the tires till you get them broken in as it were. Some guys pay extra to have them heat cycled and or shaved too. Don't go crazy with fresh rubber you could end up in a ditch.
Look here I found a link about it:
