Nail in tire, 17's + Stockers help!
Alright, got a nail in my nice 17" tires, and so Im driving on a single (nearly bald) Stock 16" + RE92 (205/55/16). All the other tires are 225/45/17 Kumho 711.
My question is, I HAVE to go to school tomorrow, and I dont want to damage my car, should I
1) Keep the single Stock wheel/tire on the rear drivers side and keep all the other 3 as the 17's.
2) Put the other good Stock wheel/tire on the other side in the rear and drive with 17"s up fron, and stockers in the rear.
I only have 2 stock tires that I would even remotely drive in the rain with, so I cant put all the stock wheels/tires back on...
Any suggestions will help, School is 50+ miles away, and I would feel safer with both stockers in back and 17's up front, but I dont know if that will severely damage my center diff.

It couldn't be as bad for the differential as driving on the space-saver spare tire, but you definitely DO NOT want to drive 50 miles on it. As the differentials are limited-slip, putting a pair of the stockers on a single axle actually won't alleviate the stress to the overall system -- you'll still have a differential wanting to turn at a different speed than the other one.
I would say keep the stock tire on for 5 miles, at 35 MPH, to the nearest tire repair place -- PERIOD. Highway speeds with that bad of a tire mismatch will burn out a differential very fast, I would think.

As I see it, the space saver donut of a spare is smaller than the stock RE92's, and they rate that at 50miles/55mph (speed rating for temp)
The 225/45/17 are within .3 circumfrence of the stock RE92's (Subaru states no more than .25)
So im pretty sure ill be safe. Plus I have an open differential in the back, so I dont have to worry much about that diff. burning up.
I kinda wanted to drive with both RE92's in the back ( ) but I guess ill just use the one thats on there.
