Installed 245 Kumho MX's
Been playing around with the new Kumho MX's and I am really liking them so far. The 245/40/17's are a snug fit on the Sedan, but I have had no rubbing problems so far. One auto-x so far, but it was a wet one and they worked well.

The rims are Rota Subzeros in Bronze. I am running DMS coilovers. They are a lot firmer than stock, but still comfortable. The performance because of both the suspension and tires is a huge improvement over stock. I haven't heard of anyone running 235's on a wagon yet. There will be a lot of people interested in that setup.

Good tires, good price,
but they're heavy. I looked at them but opted for the Michelin Pilot Sports as they were more than 5 lbs lighter per tire (in a 16"). A 17" (especially that wide) will be a lot heavier and increase your rotational/unsprung weight. The further from the center of the wheel/tire combo, the more weight plays a factor (acceleration, braking). I do admit 17s and 18s (even 19s) look good, but at the expense of extra weight. Just my opinion.

Don't know about the 245 size in
16", but talk to Luke at Tire Rack. He quoted me 22.1 lbs for the Michelin, 27+ for the Kumho, and 24+ for the Bridgestone S-03. The other reason I went for the Michelin is the sidewall is much stiffer than the S-03. I only see the Pilot Sport Cup in the size you're looking for on their website.

In autocross, you need more grip any way you can. Just look at all of the top ranked modified cars with three foot wide racing slicks that push 1.5 G's or more through the corners. Grip = Victory in autocross, period.
