disappointed in finish of BBS RG-R wheels.
I purchased a set of BBS RG-R's less than a year ago.
I love the wheels, they look great on the car, etc etc.
However I've been extremely disappointed with the
finish durability of these wheels. They seem to chip
or scratch just by looking at them.
I've picked up numerous paint chips on them just
from regular driving. I do NO offroad driving.
I guess maybe I'm crying here but I'd sure expect more
durability out of a wheel that costs so much.
Anyone else have paint issues with BBS wheels?
I've had stock wheels on cars last years with the original
finish intact and in good condition.
These things will look like hell in less than two!

Structural Wrnty. 10 Years
Finish Warranty 1 year
Finish Process. Diamond Blk. w/Clear
I haven't heard of the problem in the past with the RGR but it's new. Contact the place where you got them or our customer service group at ext. 360 and you can discuss warranty work.

Hi Dexter, thanks for the reply.
I actually got a tire/wheel combo from the TireRack.
Well it's encouraging to hear there's a year on the
finish.
It's a nice finish, but awfully fragile. I am surprised
these aren't powder coated or something.
I'm due for a tire change soon and biting my nails
even mounting the new rubber is going to do some
damage.
So there's no other complaints so far with the RG-R's
huh?
Thanks!

This is always a good idea with new wheels.

entire car clean.
It seems like everytime I wash the wheels now I find a
new chip on them.
I'll probably just give up on the paint and polish them
out. Bare aluminum is a pita but it's better than cheap
chipping paint.

I don't have my stock wheels anymore. Sending these in
will leave me without a car.
Powdercoating sounds like a good option. Thanks for
recommending that.
Any ideas what it would cost?

a years worth of driving without chipping.
They have one of the weakest finishes I have ever seen
on a wheel.
I am so careful with them too, thats whats so frustrating.

Curious, why would powdering them be bad?

Next time I wash the car I'll take a picture for you but you'll figure I switched wheels on you. By the way...I used wheel wax available from TireRack on them before I ever mounted them on the car. Did you ever wax the wheels? What wheel cleaner do you use?

the the best.
In any event, it doesn't seem to me any amount of "wax"
would protect these wheels from chipping.
Why would the finish on my wheels be any different?
