Can 235/45/R17 fit into WRX 2004 Sedan?

Can 235/45/R17 fit into WRX 2004 Sedan?
I have a WRX 2004 sedan with stock height and a set of Falken - Hanabi Alum wheel, 4-100, 42mm, 17" x 7.5". The offset has no problem with the current 215/45/R17 Falken ZE-512 A/S tire.
There are 2 questions before I want to change to the same tire but with wider size as 235/45/R17 as follow:
1. Can they still properly fit into the car without rubbing?
2. Can the stock breaks keep functioning as normal?
I know they may slow down the car and increase the overall tire diameter by 1.78%, I also know 225/45/R17 will be the standard fit as mentioned on manual. But since I could not find the similar question from the existing threads, I like to make this post to look for any comments you may have. Thank you in advance.

Just double-checking, but the 4x100 bolt pattern is a typo right? You meant 5x100 I hope?
Oh, and according to some I spoke to, proper plus sizing on 17's should be 245 IIRC, but I'm not so sharp when it comes to aftermarket wheels

I am not sure, I physically have seen 5 bolts on the wheel, but the tire technician told me it is called 4/100 bolt pattern as I've seen on the purchase invoice. He also said this is for Japanese car and they won't into BMW 5 series. Below is the link to the website, they told me 225/45/R17 is ok, but 235 may rub the car due to the smaller offset. Some Subaru dealers told 235 should fit well because some STI come with 235 as standard, I know thier offset should be 48mm. Since I keep on getting comflict info. I would like to see more opinion from our I-Club members. Thank you in advance for any comment.

wrx bolt pattern is 5x100. if that shop u went to can't figure that out... i'd be a little worried and shop elsewhere ![Wink](https://www.i-club.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
but again, if your only concern is more sidewall to protect your rims from damage, i think 225 should be enough. the bigger u get, the more expensive it is, along with increased unsprung weight and rolling resistance.

Yea, you NEED 5x100, if the shop can't figure that out, like Benjamin said, worry, I mean thats basic.
Also the offset isn't the best. Will it work? maybe, but you'll put extra stress on the wheel bearings, and if you ever want to go bigger on the tires or lower on the car, you might regret getting the smaller offset. As you mentioned, 48 is generally considered the minimum. Stock is like 52.
For the tire, I'm not sure about this, but I thought it was 235/40s not 45s, but I could be wrong. 225s would be safer, but wider is better![Smilie](https://www.i-club.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
O and I've never heard of brake problems from changing wheels unless you go smaller (which your not).
Hope that helped![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.i-club.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Good Luck

thank you Kravdra & Ben! It was just a typo per my tire dealer. My current wheel is a 5/100 & 5/114.3 universal bolt pattern. The 42mm offset works fine.
However, I've changed my mind getting a new set of 18"x7.5" wheels with 225/40/R18, 45mm offset. Hope this really fits my profile! Any inputs, welcome to let me know.
