i have been doing some searching around and found alot of poeple saying that both these tire are good most just say s03 realy good and that es100 are realy good for the money but what i want to know is if the s03 are worth the extra money or should i go with the cheeper tires? I need good dry most likey coz it almost never rains in SoCal

Simply put, you get what you pay for. Both tires are great quality for the money you spend on them; it's just that the S03's are that much greater even though they're that much more expensive. Know what I mean?

As an aside, the S03's are actually most famous for their insanely good wet traction. Bridgestone engineers believed that no driver could push a (nearly) R compound tire's dry traction past its limits, but believed that wet traction limits were very easily surpassed. Hence, in their top of the line models, they concentrated on making the best wet traction tires possible. However, this isn't to say that their dry traction sucks. On paper, the dry traction may not look as impressive as the other top class tires, but it's still more than adequate for anyone short of a touring car driver

one other consern i have about the S03 and the es100 is the side wall...i am till useing the stock tires right now and for the most part wiped out all the writeing on the side of them..i know the ES100 have realy stiff side walls (friend has them and rants about that alot) but i just wanted to make sure the s03 have the same stiffness in them

S-03s are stiffer...

if you are rubbing off the sidewall writing, you need to increase your tire pressure, and turn the driving agressiveness down a notch.

I would put about 38-40psi cold in your tires on all 4 corners.

You must understeer a lot.

i got about 32 in from and 37 in back right now i gess i will try more air see if it holds better too. as for the driving agressiveness tone down.......never

I ran my 205/50ZR16 S03s at 38 front 36 rear, same for the 215/45ZR17s I moved up to. I run my 215/45ZR16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s at 40 front 38 rear. The Goodyears are as good as the S03s both wet and dry on the street, but they overheat at the track and autocross course way too easily. S03s are still my favorite tire.

ES100's have been wearing out rather quickly, especially along the edge of the tread. I would avoid them.

This is the wrong place to ask, sorry, but I was wondering about this. If I were here inquiring about S03s and was debating due to price, I'd appreciate someone telling me "hey, I've got some for sale" cuz then I could look and it might help my decision, and it would certainly be another thing to consider in my purchase. So whats wrong with him nic3 letting him know he had some he'd be willing to sell?

Basically, it comes down to precedent. It's really bad form for every tech thread to end up having someone pitching their used parts in it. It's thread hijacking, and it's kinda rude IMO. Personally, if i'm in a thread discussing the technical merits of one part (or tire) over another, someone offering one for sale doesn't really contribute to the conversation. Also, try PMs- works much better.

i have played with it alot and i like the feel of this setup, bit more slip in the back and more bite in the front. i got alot of fun places near me so finding the right grip for me i can test alot but these stock tires suck SSOOO much most likey go with s03 and most likey just get them at costco or someing 125$ or so i think
