235 vs 225 for 17" wheels
I have a set of 17x7.5 +48mm that I am going to mount on my WRX (MY03 sedan). I have the factory STi suspension upgrade.
I've read some of the posts here, and everyone has an opinion, but my biggest concern is rubbing and tread roll.
Tirerack recommends 225/45.
Discount tire recommends 235/40 (as a +0) because it is closer in diameter to the stock 215/45. However they said the tread would "roll" because the tire is too wide for the wheel. They said 225/45 might rub because it's taller and they believe the car is "lowered" with the STi suspension (visually looking at it).
Any expert input or actual experience would be greatly appreciated.

Don't go with the 235 because it requires at least an 8" wheel. If your suspension is lowered, no problem with the 225/45 as long as your camber settings are close to OE - which I suspect they are as the STi suspension upgrade only lowers the car about 1" (corrrect?).

I'm leaning towards the 225's because the total wheel diameter difference is only +2.4mm and the 235's is -6.6mm from stock.
The STi Suspension according to subaru is not suppose to drop the car any... I haven't noticed. The specs can be seen here.
People have posted the car was lowered by .5-.75", but I have nothing to compare too.
The 225's worried me because of some of you responses (even this one), that if the alignment is changed, it could rub with that wheel.
