18s or 17s what do u guys think?
i know running 18x8 the car will grip better the only thing i am concerned about are the pot holes and damage to the wheel i really dont have money to throw around and buy new one if gets damaged, overall what do u guys think is it better to go with 17's?

just get tires with more side wall clearance. i had 18's and i think that the only thing that would have saved them was if i had bigger sidewalls to the tire. anywayz i had them insured so i got my money back tho.

i wanted to get 18's, but i didnt want to risk damaging the rim, so i bought some 17x7.5 rims. they might not look as cool, but if you ger some good tires (S0-3) you will have a lot of grip. also, the side wall on the 18's is going to be smaller, causing your ride to be a little stiffer. if you get a side wall that is too big to soften hard hits to your rims, your speedo might be off.

17x7.5 is a perfect size for normal street conditions. Like DLUX WRX said, with a nice set of tires it'll make a big difference. I personally think that 18's only look nice on Imprezas that are modified to a circuit style. Just my 2 cents.

A larger wheel will not give you any better grip. Either a stiffer sidewall (like Azenis) or bigger wheel diameter will make the tires feel crisper at turn-in, but will not give you any more grip. (I'm assuming the same width tires) The larger wheels....although they may look better....are either heavier or way more expensive to match weight. Tires are also heavier in the larger size. (see Falken's site for tire weights http://www.falkentire.com/html/produ.../tirespecs.htm ). At the track, you very rarely see larger sized wheels than what's needed to clear brakes. E30 M3 club race cars still run 15" wheels.
