I remember watching old japanese movie clip on youtube where this dude plays an undercover cop i think trying to crack down on illegal street racing just so happened freaks out and jumps in his 300zx and pushes his car to know limit on the wangan..Weird thing is that the way he races is like he's racing a ghost or something.. Do you know the name of the movie by any chance??

I'm not a fan of Wangan at all. Comics, anime, games, etc.
Initial D touge racing > Wangan highway drag

Back in my Initial D days, I would pay to see someone take my teg down.

But Wangan or Initial D can't compare to Tokyo Drifting! haha

Oops, I meant to type 964, not 946. 964 was the Porsche internal name for that particular generation of 911's (namely 1989 to 1993). That's the black car you see in the vid. The blue car is however definitely an SA30 Fairlady 240z. Thanks for pointing that out; I've edited my first post for the typo!

Also, the Black Bird is the nickname for the car, not the driver. But I can see the allusion to the RUF CTR since it was nicknamed the Yellowbird in the late '80s by Road & Track editors, while Wangan Midnight began in 1992.

just saw the first 2 episodes. It was ok. I dunno which came out first but kinda funny tho how Akio looks like Takumi and that they both work at gas stations. I like Initial D better.

Akio actually looked pretty different in the manga. I think they modernized his look since the manga came out back in '92 or whenever.
