CA F/S: Gravelsports Cold Air for 2.5RS
This is a *rare* custom cold air intake produced to use the stock hoodscoop on your N/A Impreza. For those who don't know the specifics of why it is *the best* CAI (yeah I had a Cobb too ) do a search on "Gravelsports intake" or check out this thread for starters:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...t=gravelsports
It was custom made by Sean Mahaney of Suby Specialties in Monrovia CA a while back. This is THE ONLY model that was developed specifically to fit the MY02 + RS (w/ WRX hood ) It will however fit earlier Impreza's.
This intake gives AMAZING low end response. Actually, it tears through the powerband. The car really comes alive w/ this monster. As I said, I had the Cobb CAI on immediatley before I put this one in... there IS a difference.
I got the intake used and it was dirty and grimey. I cleaned the hell out of it, wire wheeled the entire thing down to naked steel, cleaned it again (acetone) sprayed two coats of Rustoleum Industrial primer, let sit for two days. Came back and applied two coats of Rustoleum Industrial enamel (machine grey) and let cure for a week. This thing is solid, and in better than new condition. It also comes with a new silicone coupler to attatch it to the TB.
Comes with:
-Intake body
-Filter cover plate
-Screws and washers
Does not come with the K&N filter. It uses the same size as stock. They did not come with the filters new, so I am not trying to short you.
As far as I know, these are out of production for the time being, and not many exist in the first place. That on top of the fact you would have to be crazy to get rid of one (see:me) if you got your hands on one. Here's your chance!
Oh, and the topic of water ingestion has been beaten to death on this thing. There have been people who have run this year round, sprayed water ON the thing, went through a car wash, caked up mud on it.. all with no reported problems. Theorey is, most water (in rain) will fall not reach the intake because of the gap from the scoop to the front of the housing. The oil on the K&N will repel most of any water that does reach it.
New Price
$210 shipped to lower 48 states.
