Racing on 37 is not a good idea, especially during the summer. I have family members in Dover Twp PD and they are planning a gigantic crackdown for this summer. They have bottle checks planned for almost every friday and saturday night this summer. They are also planning on writing careless driving tickets to anyone they catch making a fast jump at a light or peeling out a tire.
They are tired of all the BS, and I don't blame them. If you want to race, there are plenty of tracks and autocross events just a short drive from here. And you drive a subaru, so take advantage of the thousands of miles of trails throughout the pinelands.

most of the time they race at 2 a.m. and its farther down 37 where u see nobody for miles. they are stupid if they race where they meet at .to many people kids and very unsafe. but i did notice they meet in the plaza and d&d then head 10 miles down 37 and go at it . tell me more about the big bust.. whats a bottle check? if u get caught then u deserve it . u probably were in the wrong place doin the wrong thing anyway. im no better since in down there in the summer doin it . but i meet up there then take the loser down far where there is no! other people around. sort of safe but still wrong . the big boys meet at the toms river mall lot just before white castle. need big $$ though.behind kohls also . but to each there own .btw pm me if u wanna chat about locations and times. police will crack down this summer since tfaf2 will be out on june 6th. so althe ricers will be out acting dumb

I used to race down there in J.C. where you're talkin about. We used to call it Global. The cops used to be real cool down there. They even came dow one night and ran two of my buddies in a pursuit package caprice with the vette engine. They lost to my friend who drove a WS-6 at the time. They beat my other buddy in a 71' monte with a 350. He had the cop but had to let up due to a catering truck selling to workers down there. Just so you know , it is street racing. After a couple of big wrecks down there the J.C. cops did a big sting (probably 20 cop cars). They came down and blocked traffic. Since there's only one way in/out, they could ticket everyone and take their time. Luckily I avioded the ticket b/c my buddy in my car knew the cop, but a lotta guys weren't so fortunate. At the time I was driving a TT stealth..which is no longer with us...RIP...a tree came out of nowhere and hit it..LOL..
All I'm saying is watch ur a$$ down there..especially during the summer when it gets real crowded...
Have Fun

Bottle checks -- They have the right to tear your car apart if they suspect you have nitrous. If they find a bottle in your car, even if it isn't connected, DON'T expect to be driving home. They will impound your car and hit you with various tickets including transporting hazardous materials.
Another wonderful thing I found out from my Uncle is that they have purchased several late model Civics, Integras, and other imports that they are setting up for undercover vehicles. You won't know if its a cop sitting next to you trying to race, or if it's some kid trying to have some fun.
And there will be no safe part of 37 this summer. Dover Twp. PD is working with the NJSP and Manchester Twp. PD to make sure that anyone that is racing and caught would be better off just bending over and kissing it goodbye.
Good luck everyone and play it safe. Just because you don't see Johnny Law doesn't mean that he isn't in the riced out civic trying to race you.

If a police officer goes out and tries to get you like that is that entrapment? Especially if they pull up next to you reving away? Please let me know I am curious about that. I don’t understand how they can break the law, just to get you, or is it some sort of technicality?

Entrapment....
Mike...
In response to your question, under NJ law entrapment is defined as where a police officer or person in cooperation w/ police if for the purpose of obtaining evidence he induces or encouarages commision of the offense and as a direct result, causes the other person to engage in such conduct by: 1)making knowingly false representations designed to induce the belief that the conduct is not prohibited (aka- u can buy this drug its not illegal to do so..whoops ur under arrest) 2) employing methods of persuasion or inducement which create a substantial risk that such a risk will be committed by persons other than those ready to commit it.
Entrapment s an affirmative defense...meaning as a defend. you must prove it by a preponderance of the evidence (more likely than not) and if you do you will be aquitted...the jury (if applicable) or judge make that determination.
For the above case with reving at a llight you would be looking to 2)...for the defense. The problem is that if a prosecutor can show that you had a disposition towards commiting the offense regardless of the cops action they can rebutt, or disprove your entrapment defense. Also they would argue that the fact that you drive around a modded street car built for speed would show that you were ready to commit the offense regardless. Also they would argue that a reasonable person at a stop light does not begin a race when the person next to them revs their engine. A pros. would say that in and of itself, street-racing is not what a reasonable person does. Entrapment would probably be a tough sell to whoever is trying the case. But this is just my legal interpretation...I don't specialize in criminal law, only small municipal matters so I may be wrong...but I hope that I helped.

all i can say is whoa!!! ill be careful this summer since i only go down 37 in the summer. other wise i wont go, ill go to ave p. in newark and hunts point .the cops there will just chase u out and give u tint, unapprovedd equipt. tickets in stead of the impound for 30 days.
