this is where we are differing.

you say he is giving because its Christ's birthday. which then i would believe you. but he stated that he does not celebrate christmas because of Christ's birthday. he has the belief that christmas is a time to spend with family and give/receive gifts. that has nothing to do with Christ's birth. just because two different groups of people celebrate something on the same day doesn't mean they celebrate the same thing. even though christmas might have a christian meaning, that meaning is not accepted by all and their actions regarding the holiday are in no way affiliated to any religous/spiritual meaning.

You can't base fact, premeditation or whatever else on something that may not exist in the first place (God, Matthew 25:40 and the story the bible portrays). Take a person that doesn't know the meaning of "murder" for example. Say this person commits murder without ever knowing a) what murder was and; b) the consequence of said action. The reason why we can prosecute said person is because there's no question regarding the very act and meaning of murder. Being naive to the very fact of murder or going 20mph over the speed limit doesn't excuse the act.

Now take the very act of murder and replace it with a story founded on the beliefs of an invisible man in the sky (seriously). If I’m sitting in the defendant chair during your prosecution I have no doubt in my mind that'll I walk as a free man.

If you think I’m crazy then multiply your thinking by an extreme point of view and you’re one step closer to religious fanaticism and “jihad.”

I have celebrated Christmas in the past 10+ years without any thought of Christ in my mind whatsoever. It's always been about the gathering of family, friends and smile on that person's face when they open the gift I got them. The only critical thinking I may do during this time of year is trying to figure out what size ham to purchase. Period.

No, liberals do not hate the country or Christmas ( I cant speak for everyone but I would like to think as Americans, we love our country.)

Deyes - Christmas is a easier when we are children because we do not hold the same resonabilities that we do today ie: getting presents (not making them) Dealing with traffic...take your pick. It has also got to be such a pain because as people and with many other things in our society, we have totally lost the meaning of christmas. People run a round getting others presents forgetting about the whole meaning together. This loss of meaning is shared with many other aspects of our culture as well. Every year we stray further away from its true meaning and this is one example of how our culture is doomed to repeat itself as the Romans and many other like them.

So in summary, to make a statement like "why do liberals hate christmas and our country," is not only missing the giant shade of gray area in between, but dividing us even more as a country and as people.

I have noticed that it is very common for simple minded people to view/characterize the world in black and white. It takes too much effort and thought to fill in all the colors, but, imho, the world looks so much better in color.
