You're suggestignthe US can fight a conventional ground war and invade a foreign country without armor units? SF, Infantry and the Air Force are all that's needed to defeat, suppress and occupy an enemy force?

Considering the fact that prior to any assault air power would absolutely decimate all static defenses and any MBT or APC in the open it could happen. The Army's transitioning the BCTs that have little armor support if any. The cordination between air power/artillery and ground forces now is near flawless. It would be a feasible option but would it happen........not likely in the foreseeable future.

Tanks do serve a serious role on todays battle field. They offer tremendous mobile support and offer psychological superiority. The 120mm cannon doesn't hurt!
