How in the hell are they going to get the weapons if it came to that? The only type of weapons that must be registered with the dept of alcohol and firearms are assault weapons. Every other weapon is pretty damn hard to trace contrary to what CSI has you believe.

If they gave a decent dollar for the weapons I can see some people giving up the old, rusted .22 in the closet but not the chrome .45 ballers in the drawer.

What is even more mind boggling is that, are the people that would voluntarily give up their guns because of an illegal law any danger in the first place? I just don't see gangsters, crack dealers, and murderers lining up to give there guns up for 49ers tickets.

Yeah, it's a good idea to take the right to bear arms away from law abiding citizens, especially since the folks in hunters point register thier firearms

Making it illegal to possess something you already have isn't an ex post facto law. Making it illegal to have bought/sold it and then prosecuting you for doing it previously would be one. Plus, this law isn't being passed by congress, it's being proposed by a local government.

Just clarifying a point, I think this law is stupid, regardless of the legal machinations.
