Sailing off the cliff of political conformity
haha... i havent been in this forum 4ever. too busy searching for new updates on 07 wrx revamps
Instead of tacking this onto an earlier post I thought I would start a new thread...
Salty, you chalk the lack of liberal participation up to Bush's apparant success in the Middle East? I wont deny that Bush might deserve more credit for any success in the Middle East, but dont you think it is absurd to suggest that his success participated in the lack of participation from Dems / Libs??
How about this... as we continue to sail into the horizon of the Republican controlled Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branched govt, there are some of us who have become so nauseous of the current political climate that we dont want to spend our day snipping with guys that dry-hump posters of Hannity and O'Reilly.
There was once a day when this forum had true, lively debate. Where ish was talked but also backed up with the force of logic. Scrolling through the different threads, this forum looks like it needs to be renamed "Lick my Salty ***** starring boy-buddy HellaDumb"
If anything, the current state of this forum (specifically referring to lack of participation from certain ideological perspectives) reflects the current nature of American political discourse, a nature replete with political confirmity and obtuseness.
Laters,

Let me go ahead and state the obvious. Salty puts a little thought behind his posts, and I keep it on the helladumb level.
When I came it here, there was a liberal love fest going on. The intollerant libs that frequented this forum couldn't handle a little dissent when I entered the fray.
It is a little sad in here now... kinda wish the liberals weren't so sensitive.

You seem to posses an arrogance that if only people knew better they'd be liberal, as if that's some state of enlightenment that can reach if only they paid attention.
But I see your point. People that side with Bush's ideals are political conformists and those that cling to the latter are independent. brilliant!

It isn't just this forum, large parts of this website have become like high school where if you aren't part of the club you get left out. It's understandable though because most of it comes from the fact that certain areas have higher activity and people meet at meets and actually know each other. If you're like me and you live in the midwest you pretty much get left out in the cold. Case in point: This thread will continue on as if I'd never written this.

One thing I did notice, however, is that I get a much better response to threads I post when I write using more colorful terms, such as "SCUM SUCKING LIBERAL," "Abortion-Loving Baby-killer," "Flag-burning anti-american traitor," etc.
People know when I'm talking about them

Nice response. Salty, I have a hard time following the logic that led to your conclusion but I will stammer out a meager defense... Sometimes big words convey big thoughts. They arent used to sound pompous. Instead, they evoke the appropriate sentiment. No, I dont think that the liberal ideology is the panacea to today's modern ills. Political confirmity is an ill that has befallen on our political machine as a whole: this is certainly not a Republican specific attack. You shouldnt be afraid of admitting your political bend. It's OK if you dry hump Hannity... he's better than Greta
And fttsn, it's good to know some people stuck in there. Im pretty disenfranchised with both parties. These days when you voice dissent against the two warring political factions you are either labeled a communist or a war-monger. And here I am, the communist.
Alas, the middle will rise again!!
p.s. Dumb. Ive got this funny feeling you are actually Howard Dean poisoning the Republican well with your Teh Retarded commentary.

And for the record everything I said was the truth. I don't care for Hannity or any of anyone like him. This goes for Franken, Moore, Carlson, Garofalo, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Maher and the rest of them.

As far as the Political climate here. I do feel a little disenfranchised with the direction of my party. Even though I tend to line myself up with the dems I find that their actions more and more draw my ire, albeit not as much as the "other" party. I guess I just wish there was a middle ground choice that was the lesser of the two evils.
As far as the blowhards that sit on TV and Radio and spout their **** they all suck. Except Maher used to have his funny moments but now he just talks too much.
