Seriously, what does one hour of our GDP amount to?

from what I can figure, roughly $4.3 billion- the 170 million in outlays for the rest of today's wing-ding is a pittance in comparison.

OK, so one time zone is using their lunch hour, so maybe as a nation we're only down about 3 billion-

Oh and BTW, W's inauguration costs were right up there in the 150+ mill range each time too.
"President Roosevelt held his 1945 inaugural at the White House, making a short speech and serving guests cold chicken salad and plain pound cake," the two lawmakers wrote in a letter. "During World War I, President Wilson did not have any parties at his 1917 inaugural, saying that such festivities would be undignified."

I heard bush's was $43.5 million? Still too much in my opinion.

Can't force the parents to take gun safety seriously.

We already screen owners for criminal/mental health records.

Do you propose having an office accompany the owner home and inspecting the premises?

More laws aren't going to change that. Education might.

Flatline...the system is obviously not working if kids are dieying.... so why cant we try and figure out a way to go about this better? Its not always about us (adults).......there are LIFES that are lost sometimes....there is always room for improvement..

umm by law you already have to keep your guns in a safe and/or locked. it's your own fault if your kids stole your keys and/or broke the safe.
you should teach your kids gun safety at a young age.

the laws are safe already. there's no "safer" law to be made. people's actions make it unsafe and that kickstarts ideas for your horrible new "safer" laws.
----------

flatline- yeah i agree with some of the stuff you said that should be banned, but suppressors..are just cool toys. nothing wrong with them in my eyes. they're still audible when being shot out of...depending on the round

as for full auto...let the military keep it. i can't hit anything full auto anyways :P.

Clearly our educational system is not working either.

Some interesting things I've read today.

Obama is having Nixon's bowling alley turned into a basketball court. Expensive.
Oprah is staying in Lincoln's bedroom. What she can't afford a hotel room?

Taxes for working class Joe go down. Taxes on businesses go up. Taxes outsource. Working class Joe looses job.

We need to tax outsourcing to equal the playing field.

theory is that if the McCain camp protested his Citizenship, then the Obama camp would have tried to do the same since McCain was born in the Panama Canal.

A mental eval won't tell you if the normal guy down the street with a perfect bill of mental health will lock up his gun or forget to do so.
