Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan: Betsy McCaughey

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.
And this is how Barry's Plan will create jobs:

1. People will be dying in larger numbers due to **** poor socialist medicine, creating jobs through attrition

and

2. By creating more Federal jobs by starting another useless Dept.

Yeah. If anything, just because it talks of how inflation and our habits of how we make money are influencing exactly what is going on.

Don't buy into it 100% but just use it as a tool to educate yourself.

I saw this article earlier and I just read the provisions. Where is the problem? I also emailed it to my father, a doctor and hospital administrator who has been dealing with problems in the American health care system for years, and he also did not see what people are freaking out about. Electronic records will make things more efficient, and it is a necessary step forward in the field IMO.

The government controlling my medical records is not going to affect my life in a negative way. I do not see it as an invasion of my privacy because there is no reason anybody would be allowed to look at my records without a valid reason. Furthermore, there is no reason why anyone would.

Wiretapping, and domestic spying are different, and I believe, more harmful.

Why would I care? Obviously, I don't WANT anybody looking at my medical records illegally, but it doesn't matter that much to me. I doubt the fact that I was once hospitalized for chicken pox would matter to anyone.

Amazing.

the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions
Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541)

You're cool with this:
Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

And this:

The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

No problem with having the gov't force it's will on your medical choices:

Hiding health legislation in a stimulus bill is intentional. Daschle supported the Clinton administration’s health-care overhaul in 1994, and attributed its failure to debate and delay. A year ago, Daschle wrote that the next president should act quickly before critics mount an opposition. “If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” he said. “The issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”
