Well the extremists believe the Quran/Koran is LITERAL. Meaning that when Allah says to "behead the infidels" - then... You got it.
Good point, Vibe.

The shame of this issue wholy lies in the question of whether we can truly overcome terrorism alone.
What will happen if the US continues to be the leading effort in Iraq?
I think we will accomplish our objective within the Commander-in-Chief's intent. It'll just take well over a decade, maybe 2.
What would happen if the 'coalition' owned up to what the US is asking of them?
This war could possibly be over in the next 12-24 months.
Would the US, as the leading proponent, trust the coalition forces to conduct any 'decisive effort' operations even if the other countries increased their troop/equipment strength?
Speaking as a previous planner and current operations officer on the ground over in Afghanistan and Kosovo, those units actually have to earn the respect of the chief operations officer and the commanding general, but I've seen where they have. The Italian Caribineri, the Ukraines, all of the Arab special ops units, they've all been given quite a bit of responsibility.
What would it take to get the major European countries to buy into the war on terrorism? If it's political, in that the officials are afraid of upsetting their constituents, then it will never happen until the largely liberal (different definition than the US definition of liberal) populace of Europe buy into the war, ie. not until the terrorists increase their attackes on European soil.
That's just my commentary. We've got a real problem; we need real solutions.

A plane to fly into the Eifel tower ? To tell you the truth I really think some of our "allies" don't want to see us succeed. I think some of europe has an inferiority complex and would love to be able to say "we told you so" to the big bad US.

If you mean by not shooting at us that they are not our enemies, and being alive a similar interests. However recently they have not been so cooperative in fighting a common enemy. In fact they have more or less abandoned us.

I'm not going to debate semantics. They are an ally, no matter to what degree.
Bottom line, they are not the enemy. I don't care if we have to fight this war alone, we'll win. We don't need anyone, but it would certainly help us get out f there sooner.
There isn't no sense in being upset with any European countries because it doesn't solve anything. They, like anyone else, are only going to get more involved is the incentives were to grow. Nothing's going to change that. I make rude, derogatory remarks about France all of the time, but I don't think of them as an ENEMY. That's just silly.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them an enemy but I'd just as soon stop calling them "allied". The UN is a useless organization in my opinion. It would be best if we pulled out of it.
