Why is everyone looking for a rear brake kit?

Interesting reading this all over again - I didn't check how many GC/GMs are here, but me upgrading from stock RS brakes to 4pots + WRX rotors up front sure shifted the bias forward with quite a heavy dive - for all I know, the 4pots reduce the bias in the front, but the rotors jacked it way back up, for a MY00 RS. Now granted, I don't see a need for the STi 2 pots in the rear either, but I definitely see a need for the H6 rotors in the back to balance things out a bit (plus a more aggressive pad that works cold). How would this combo work on a MY00 RS then - STi 4 pots, slotted WRX rotors, STi pads in front, H6 rotors (might not go slotted) and aggressive street pad in the back?

Interestingly the STi 4pots actually drop front brake torque slightly when compared to the stock RS brakes.

edit: I am assuming equal pad material. The 4pot pads could be more aggressive, accounting for your increased dive.

I doubt it dropped brake torque on mine - I have an MY00 and it certainly dives more now with the 4 pots and WRX rotors than with the 2 pots and stock RS rotors. That's why I'm wondering if I should do anything in the rear to even it out, the least is to upgrade to H6 rotors I figure...

Without a doubt, I think you would be pleased with an H6 rear upgrade. Your car and mine start with essentially the same brake setup. I am running the STi(non-Brembo) 4pot fronts and the B4/GT-B rear and its a nice total effect.

quick question
Why do people upgrade to WRX fronts, 277mm rotor, and H6 rotors in the rear, 290mm? Shouldn't the front rotor be larger to keep proper brake bias? Excuse me for me ignorance on this topic.
Whoops sorry, 294mm makes more sense.

You have to assess bias based on what brakes are on the vehicle to start with. The RS going up to an "H6" and leaving the fronts stock would be a good bias upgrade. The WRX again leaving the fronts stock and going up to the "H6" would be a good bias upgrade.
The advantage to the "H6" is upping the rear brake torque output to help include the rear brakes a little more in the braking process. You have to assess bias changes in their totatlity tho, meaning what did you start with and what are you going to in the front and rear.
Both effective disc diameter and total caliper piston area are the keys to figuring the ultimate brake torque.

But like many have said, including stoptech, it's not really needed because the fronts are doing most of the work to stop the car.

I just thought I would throw a bump in for the carbotech bobcats... not because I think they stop all that much harder than other aftermarket street pads.. but because they dust less than any other strret pad (assuming you dont have slotted or drilled rotors) with aftermarket stopage...
