BRAKES (Porterfield and hawk to be exact)

got a track day coming up and can't decide between the porterfield r4-s or the r4-1

i have a stoptech BBK with axxis ultimates, and im afraid if i get the r4-s's they will be almost extremely similiar to the ultimates at the track.

or how do they compare to the hawk hp Plus?

thanks

I run R4-S. Haven't tried HPS's, though.

It's a great street pad and dusts much more than the OEM Brembo ones... not a race pad, but it bites very well and is not very sensitive to temperatures under HPDE conditions...

R4-1 is a race pad as far as I can tell... I went for something great on the street that would be sufficient on the track... as I am not there often enough with the Subaru to justify race pads.

The Hawk HP Plus is also a high-dust race pad in the same category as the R4-1... just keep that in mind...

I wouldn't run the R-4-1 on the street as well. The PF's you can get away with it, albiet with higher dust. I daily drive my PF's.

the HPS's will melt down on the track if you are anywhere close to being quick.

R4-1's are awesome but will eat your rotors alive. Should be considered track only.
