Weird Brake-bias problem??
I am having a weird problem with my brake system. I went to a thunderhill open track event on 3-31-04:
-----------------
I put a brand new set of OEM-compound brake pads on the rear brakes tuesday. The only street miles I put on the pads where driving on the
highway to the hotel the night before.
I am using Carbotech Panther Plus pads on the front of the car in the Stoptech BBK. They had 3 track events on them before yesterdays event and a little bit more than half the pad left.
At the end of yesterdays track event with 200 track miles logged....
The BRAND NEW set of rear pads are gone! I mean gone as in to the backing plates, no more, buh bye. My front pads? Still have half the meat left on
them.
I have no idea wtf is going on. The car does not feel rear biased in braking on the track. The brakes stop me great, A friend went on a ride with me in one session and he said they felt better than his brakes on his evo and we are using the same front pads.
-------------
I can understand if the front pads go fast because of driving so hard with so many miles in one day on the track, but the front still has TONS of life left but the rears are GONE, in UNDER 300miles.
To give you an idea of how aggressive I drive Thunderhill (or how not aggressive ), I was logging a consistant 2:20 , full track with no-bypass. (yea yea, I know it isn't the best but I chicken out in turn 8 since I spun HARD last time i was there)
I really have no idea what is going on and obviously something has to be wrong here.
Car brake system Stats:
2004 WRX with 11k miles
Stoptech BBK in front with Carbotech Pantherplus
Stock rear brakes with OEM pads (where new! )
SS lines
Motul 600
Anybody have any idea what is going on? I am going to call Stoptech and see if they know anything.
Thanks in advance.
