alright, so i bought this sti strut bar off of some guy on eBay (i know, dumb idea)... Strut bar looks fine, but i went to get it installed and the damn thing wont fit! i dont know if im installing it wrong or if he sent me a strut bar for a wrx... he specifically told me it was for a GC8...

i tried putting the strut bar on with the bar pointing downwards, but the hood wouldnt close... i tried installing it regular but the ends would not line up with the bar.

can someone tell me what im doing wrong? do i need to remove the hood scoop blocker? im clueless... thanks for the help.

Can you post some pics of how yuo are trying to install it. I would need to see the part and how it is fitting, or not, to give any help.

unfortunately i dont have a digital camera right now, but i found some pics on the web of what this looks like... it seems as if the strut bar might fit somehow, but im still real confused... here is somce pics...



keep in mind, i have a GC8, but i couldnt find any pics of a GC8 with an Sti strut bar, thats why i postedthe one with the WRX. the pink ends do line up if i have the strut bar "aiming" towards the front of the car, but i dont think that is how it is supposed to be positioned. and if i try setting the strut bar "aiming" towards the firewall, it wont fit. what the hell?!? are the Sti bars the same for the GDB and GC8, or is there a difference? if any knows what im doin wrong, please. let me know! thanks.

also, im gonna have to take off my hood scoop cover, aren't i?

 

well, it doesnt look very good upside down, as the Sti emblems are upside down, and the hood doesnt close if it is on that way...

 

does anyone have an Sti strut bar for either a GC8 or GDB? can anyone confirm if this strut bar looks like the correct one for a GC8? im havin a b*tch of a time finding out...
