RS -> WRX Brake swap BEWARE!!!!!
Well, now that I'v had time to relax...I would like to thank those idiots for telling me that the 02 and 03 WRX brake caliper brackets would bolt up, because THEY DONT.
Not only are the PADS a different shape, the ENTIRE CALIPER AND CALIPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY ARE DIFFERENT. The calipers for the 02 and 03 WRX are NOT THE SAME PART. The 14mm bolts which attach the caliper to the bracket are off by 1/2" Due to the new pad shape, the bracket is also a different shape, which means the caliper has to be different.
Now that I have spent 2 days in my garage in 90+ degree weather dismantling and putting back togeher my front brakes...I have this warning.
ANYONE wanting to do the WRX brake swap on a GC8 (98-01) RS MUST get the 02 WRX caliper brackets. That is the only year bracket you can get unless you buy the entire caliper and bracket assembly. If you have an 02+ RS, you MUST buy caliper brackets off an 03+ WRX. The pads will be the same shape, and the swap should take very little time.
Damn Subaru for putting different pad designs on the same year of car.
With all that said...anyone with a GC8 RS want a set of pads/caliper brackets to do the WRX brake swap?

I'm sure what all you are saying. The '02 swap just needs rotors and caliper brackets to an RS. The '03 swap should just need rotors and caliper brackets too, but the bracket is different from the '02?

For any year RS (that you want to do the swap), you can get rotors off any year WRX (they are all the same).
If you have a GC8 RS (98-01) and want to do the swap, the caliper brackets must be gotten off an 02 WRX with the old pad design.
If you have an 02+ RS, you have to get the brake parts off a WRX with the NEW pad design (mid MY03+). The 2 brake calipers and caliper brackets are not compatable.
As for the parts...I have someone who is gonna buy them, but if they back out ill get in contact with you. Its JUST the caliper brackets (and also a set of Hawk HPS pads). The Calipers themselves are not included.
