rear clunking from coilovers
I now notice a rear clunking unlike anything i've ever heard before. It comes from my rear driver strut and sounds like the strut is jiggling around during moderate/hard turning. I've already tightened the strut top nut and the 3 top mount nuts.
What is wrong with my F-ing coilovers?? one clunk after another...is it because i drive in a city with rough streets?? If so, should i also check my rear sway bar nuts/bolts to make sure they're tight again??

Which coil-overs do you have? What settings are you using. You may have them too low and could raise them all up a bit. Or, you can soften the struts up a bit. Are the roads around your area bad? If they are, you may want to keep it soft. Check all the bolts on both the top and bottom. It looks like you checked the top. Check the bottom also. You said also that it makes the noise when you take some hard turns. Is it when you are doing left or right turns? Just wondering if it is only doing it when you are exerting force down onto that side or not.

I've got the GAB coilovers for gc8. they are set at 2 front, 3 rear (fairly soft..atleast softer range). My car isn't very low. its got about .75 inch gap between tire and fender. Yes the roads are bad in the area.
The noise is only noticable when i make hard right turns....but the noise comes from the left rear coilover. sounds like the strut assembly is rattling around. Is it maybe because of the STI rear strut top mounts like tighting fitting over the strut shaft???

Well, those are good coil-overs, so it isn't shady quality parts. So, it is making the noise when the whole assembly is extending. It almost sounds like something is loose. When they extend like that, anything loose will wiggle around more. This is a stupid thing to say, but did you make sure to have the top of the struts pointing in the right direction? I know on mine, they had to be. Also, if you have changed some of the adjustments like spring rate or height, I would check to make sure that those adjustments are even and tight. There are those two that screw around the strut below the spring opposite to one another and come together tight. If they are not together, then they may move a little. I highly doubt that would be it, though. Do you have a sway bar? If so, did you change the endlinks? If you drive hard and hit bad places on the road, it may be a little hard on the stock endlinks. I'm just throwing out ideas here for you. I have to see things with my own eyes to figure them out.
