Question about stiff breaks in the morning?
Recently- I would say in the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed somehting very strange with my WRX. Every morning when I get in the car before I start it up I press down on the break. Well normally it would have a normal feel to it and the pedal would move a little before it came to a stop- jsut like when you are driving.
However in the past few weeks when I go to push on it the pedal does not move at all. It is totally stiff and has no play until I turn the car on and then it moves down slightly when the engine is started.
What could this be? Is there something that can explain this and is it somehting I should worry about or look into?

I had that question too, it seems that the power braking system bleeds all its pressure overnight so you have no assistance in pressing the pedal.
Once you start the car everything is back to normal because everything is pressurized.

You can 'pump up' the brake pedal w/ the car off, but after a point, just gets harder to push down etc? Isn't that normal operation?
I forget the exact workings of the system, but when the car's not on, the master cylinder can't circulate fluid (?). Similar to the power steering system.

No I totally understand that. I agree if you pump the breaks it gets harder and harder to push the pedal down. However I am not pumping the breakrs or even touching the pedal while the car is off yet I get back into the car in the morning and the pedal feels as if somebod had pumped it a few times durign the night and that is not happening.
Since this has never occured before it makes me think somehting is going on with the break syatem. That is whay I am tryign to figure out.
