Quest. Tien Springs/Struts
Hey Folks,
I couldn't find any answers in this forum that could tell me ...
what brand/grade struts can go with my Tien Springs (F 2'', B1.5'').
I heard a lot of people say springs are bad for the suspension because it wears the factory struts.
Is there anything special with aftermarket struts?
KYB any good?
Should I get strut support bars?
Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks for looking,
Jay

Welcome to the forum btw. I just installed the Tein Stech springs with my factory struts on my 03 wrx yesterday. So far, I have no complaints with ride quality, bumpiness, etc. Most people that I know use the KYB AGX adjustable strut when they lower the car with spings. It's an upgrade I plan in the future. Being that our cars are already 5+ years old, it's probably time to start looking for replacements anyway.
If you mean strut tower braces, the front strut brace isn't as necessary as a rear one. the front of our cars are much stiffer. The rear needs the help. Again.. most people I know don't bother with a front one and get the rear first. Hope this helps.

just for further knowledge about regarding your suspension...
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=911257
also, when considering upgrading your suspension, think about what you want to do with the car: auto x, track days, or just daily driving, some combo of those three...
this will give you an idea of what kind of suspension stuff you should be looking at.
Springs are a start, but a lot of people say to stay away from them because of the factory struts. If you have the money I would go with replacing both and make sure that the springs and struts work well together OR going with coilovers, but I would only buy coilovers if you are serious about racing because otherwise coilovers are a big expense for just daily driving, not to mention most are not the smoothest ride...
