Need help with suspension problem! 2000 impreza specialists needed!
Hey peoples !
This fall I bought a set of KYB AGXs and some Eibach ground control coilovers. I installed the KYBs with the ground controls and it lowered the car about 2". Now that I have it on the struts are bottoming out really easily. For example going over a dip at 15-20mph the struts hit bottom. Now I have been driving my car extra careful (so this is a dissapointment that I can't even enjoy the setup yet).
Has any of you done this setup on their classic Impreza and I believe the struts are blown and I need to get them warrantied. I heard somewhere that with the KYB AGXs the car should only be lowered 1.5" maximum. Is this true? I have it lowered just a bit less than that but the coilover kit is at its highest position.
Any opinions and help would be greatly appreciated.

You are mixing and matching struts and spring rates, which generally isn't recommended. When you lower a vehicle beyond it's normal operating parameters, damping must be matched to both the spring rate and to prevent hitting the bump stops. When you bottom out, the car will lose grip and unsettles the suspension, which is not what you want.
Do you know the spring rate of the Eibach coilovers and the Ground Control springs?

I believe the 6" springs that I have on the front are rated to be 300lb and the 7" which will be in the rear are rated at 350lbs.
At least that was what I remember being told when I contacted Ground Control.
