Loose Brembo Gran Turismo brake
I have the 02 wrx w/ the Brembo Gran Turismo kit and the LH rotor assembly has developed some play in it. It's making a really irritating popping noise over bumps, when I turn the wheel, and other times. With the brakes held and the car on jacks, I can physically move the wheel a little fore and aft. Maybe 1-2mm, but it's enough to make a clunking noise. I know this sounds like a hub problem, but I assure you it's not. The rotor and caliper assembly do not move at all with the brakes pressed. I had Subaru check all suspension components for wear. The only thing they found was a small amount of wear in a tie rod. It was replaced and that, obviously, was not the problem.
I'm really at my wits end. I called Brembo and Race Technologies to furthur diagnose the problems. They said I should not be able to move the hat inside the rotor. Problem is, I live in Ohio and have taken it to three shops, and none of them have ever seen this type of system before. Do I buy new hardware and hat assembly or what? Anyone with any ideas.
Thanks

This sound like the same problems that people are having w/ stoptechs. I just want to make sure i understand this right about moving the wheel fore and aft. While the car is in the air, the wheels off the ground, you grab the top of the tire w/ one hand and w/ the other hand you grab the bottom of the tire push foward w/ the top and pull w/ the bottom.Reapting that motion. Right? If you have play when you do that, that would mean that your wheel bearings are worn or loose. How come when you took it to the dealership they didn't check your wheel bearings??? If you have 1mm-2mm play i think its time to purchase some new wheel bearings. You can also do a check the way i explained on all 4 wheels. I hope i was of some help, when i find the thread on Nabisco about where some people are having the same problem i'll post it. Good luck, Mario
