Question Koni insert questions...

I haven't contacted any of the shops around yet...but the more I read, it seems the 02-03 rear strut differences are at the top and how it threads (fronts are the same).

Anyone know if the housing are the same? Meaning I could get used 02-03 struts cut off the tops and insert 04 inserts into them so that the threads up top are correct? Seems there are more 02-03 suspension takeoffs available cheap than 04-05 WRX.

Thanks!

Rob

Are you asking about the threads on the top of the strut where you bolt the top hat into place? Koni does give you new nuts to screw on there, so I don't think the threads matter. I think you should be asking if the '02-'03 struts will fit on your '04 and if they do, then Koni shocks should be no different. However, I don't know the answer to that question.

That's okay...I got the answer on NASIOC. Any 02-05 WRX strut can be used with Koni inserts. There are guys there that have used 02-03 strut housings with 04-05 Koni inserts and vice versa. So any WRX strut housings can be used as they are all the same size once you cut off the top and remove the stock insert. The Koni insert you buy will determine the application (02-03 or 04-05).

Thanks for your reply!
