Clunk noise when slowing down
Hey everyone
i have a clunk noise usually when i'm slowing down at 30-20 mph.
also when i'm going up the drive way sometimes.
i have Tein Flex coilovers i have had them on for about 14K miles.
The clunk is so bad that sometimes i can feel something hitting against my car.
i just want to know if its most likely my coilovers before i take my car into the dealership or at least have an idea what it can be.
Thanks
Phillip

Clunk
I have a similar clunck that feels like it is coming right under my feet. I have the SS Tein coil over, but this isn't the issue for me. I just had the clutch replaced and after that, this clunk started happening. It happens when slowing down hard and when going up the drive way sometimes. I checked everything:
I checked:
Steering column, rack etc,
subframe, all suspension and exhaust
I checked the tranny mount and engine mounts.
I could not find it. It just go more pronounced, so I wanted to do some testing. Unfortunately, there isn't a private location to do any testing and there has been too much general population to recreate the cluck with a consistency to try to localize the issue. I could not tell if the engine mounts the issue and am not sure how. However, the engine is not vibrating. I checked torque on every bolt under there and nothing.
I believe it to be drive train related and it takes some torque to recreate the sound. It is raining in NY, so I won't be able to check for a few days, but will keep at it. I will let you know if I find out what it is.
In addition to this, I just put in Helix end links and sway bar up front and get a new clunk with the end links. So it has been fun to differenciate.

I think I know what you guys are talking about. It only happens to me when I don't press on the clutch on time when slowing down. If you're not downshifting, this will happen if you just step on the breaks without putting the car in neutral. For instance, if you're in a higher gear like 4th, and you don't shift down to 3rd when your rpm's drop to about 2000rpm or shift to neutral. Hope this helps.
