best way to paint calipers?
I have seen the brush on kits. I am just wondering what works best. buddy painted my calipers before i purchased te car from him a while back. and they looked good for a while but now they are just crummy looking. What about baking them or spraying? how can a factory painted look be acheived? thanks

get the G2 paint kit of of the internet or ebay. I used it to paint my calipers red and they look really good. it gives a nice gloss unlike spray on kits. It took me about 4 hours to put on three coats and then you let it dry for a day. It looks good and if you are into that kind of thing then get the G2 kit.

dude.. I'm in the ghetto,.. so yeah.. I can do it.
besides... if you want a cheap mod and you don't want to (or don't need to) buy 2000 dollar calipers... painting them is just as good! I frankly would not buy them unless they were 400 bux for a set or if I was going to race. But since I don't race or have the money to buy 2K calipers, I think Painting is the way to go.

I like my painted calipers because the glossy surface is easier to clean than the dull gray that they used to be. It doesn't trap brake dust or soap or anything.
I used the brush G2 kit as well. It works so well I even had a mechanic thinking that Subaru had started painting the calipers at the factory.

I used the G2 kit when I had my 02 WRX on the stock brakes. It is really easy to use.
My only suggestion would be, if you don't mind having to bleed the brakes, to take the calipers off the car to paint them. It makes the process a lot easier. You cna definitely do it with them on there, but I know it made it a lot tougher for me (plus I got paint in places I didn't want to ).

I wish they offered that kit in a two-wheel version for those of us who don't have the ability to get all four wheels off the ground. Only 4 hours of painting time makes doing all four calipers really tough, when you can only get one axle off the ground at a time. My garage floor is just enough out of level to make me feel unsafe having the car up on four jackstands.
