Question axxis ultimates in cold weather?

i plan on changing my front pads and adding stainless lines. i was thinking of getting some carbotech bobcats, but saw the stoptech stage 1 kit that had everything i wanted, but with axxis ultimates. question is, how do these pads perform in the cold? i go skiing a lot and just want to make sure these pads aren't going to totally suck in the cold. at the same time, i want pads that can take a couple of beginner level track days and not melt completely.

So what is/are the contents of the Stoptech stage 1 kit?
Duplicate it with pads of your choice...Beware though, the Ultimates are cheap and other pads may cost 2-3 times as much or more.

so the stoptech stage 1 comes with front/rear stainless lines, axxis ultimate pads all around and 3 bottles of motul 600. it goes for $250 on their web page. if i were to get the stoptech lines, motul, and say carbotech bobcat pads all separately, i think it would be over $350.

axxis ultimate pads is by far the best for your suby. If you are upgrading to STi 4pot brakes, it will work even better.

I know of a HUGE number of people who would laugh this statement off the face of the earth.

I use them in the rear, and Carbotech Bobcats in the front.
Ultimates are inexpensive, and offer a fair value and they dust like mad.
There are FAR better pads out there, such as the Bobcats and Ferodo's, and Hawks, and Pagid, and......But these cost much more.

huge number? I want you to tell them to come here and laugh out their opinions. I want to hear it.

what this person want is something more cost effective. Of all the pads you mentioned are more expensive and can not justify for avg consumers.

There IS a difference between $40 pads and $140 pads and the $40 pads WILL be found lacking, overall...I promise.

"i want pads that can take a couple of beginner level track days and not melt completely."

The above statement leads me to believe that a more expensive pad may be advisable for this consumer.

Ultimates are a good, cheap, dusty, rotor eating, street pad. Period. There are much better, somewhat more expensive, choices available.

Did I say I have them on the rear of my car right now...????(I did)

For a good discussion on pads see: http://www.mrtrally.com.au/forums/to...36&whichpage=1

I have them on both my RS and my WRX, for the money they're fine, and perform well in cold weather during my recent trips to tahoe and reno. That being said, yes they are dusty but they don't eat into my rotors as much as my stock pads did.

Axxis Ultimates need a few seconds of hard braking before they start really gripping when very cold. Also they dust like a motha.

Axxis Deluxe Plus need no warmup at all. I have never got them to overheat on the street and they do not dust at all compaired to anything else I have see. Stoptech says that they are the easiest on the rotors also.

Love the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads. No squeek, No Dust, No cold, brake delay.
