99 Outback SUS
I have a 99 outback SUS and the left front strut is blown. My wife drives this car. I'd like to improve the ride but need to keep the appearance stock. Anyway I can drop in a WRX suspension cheap or can I use AGX shocks with the Outback Springs?
Any info suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you want to keep the stock height, the dealer is the only place that sells what you need. It can be lowered with a standard subie suspension, but you'll obviously lose the ground clearance.

99 Sus
The car only has 29,000 miles. Here is the catch my wife likes cars that handle well, ie not so floaty like the SUS is but likes the extra groud clearance she gets in the winter. Honestly if I dropped the car an inch going to a WRX setup she wouldn't notice. Its easier for me to probably do a full suspension swap with a used WRX spring/shock than go get a spring compressor and install 2 new struts.
Let me know if my thought / idea is valid. If so any idea where I can source a WRX set up cheap?!
Thanks again.

The problem with a WRX swap is that the springs are going to be all wrong. An Outback is a Legacy, which is going to weight several hundred pounds more than a WRX. If you were driving a normal Legacy and were looking at swapping in WRX struts with stock springs, it would be less of an issue.
If there's one worn or blown strut, that bodes poorly for the rest of them. Replacing one or even two of the four isn't a good idea.
Now i know that more than a few people have converted their Outbacks to the more common Legacy setup, and i'm almost certain that it's only the springs and struts, but i really don't know if it involves anything else. If you can somehow get a used set of 97-99 Outback or Legacy GT springs, i think you'd be ok with some WRX struts. Even better would be a set of KYB AGX from a place like Tirerack.
I'd just keep my eye on the classifieds here and on NASIOC for anything of this nature.
