1G lateral
I have a 03wrx and lowered my car 1.5inches and i have P1 OZ Prodrive 17x 7' or 7.5 with Perelli tires. its corners like nothing i've ever driven and have yet to break traction around the corners. Is there anything i could do to get 1G lateral or should i get new tires? probably new suspension but has NE1 actually done this in there rex and test proven...?

i don't think anyone has really done much in the way of research into the lateral g's that a WRX can pull. whiteline has some info on what their RSBs and ALKs will do, but not much more.
getting to 1g on the skidpad is not easy. my guess is that it would probably take a whole lot of suspension work, including pretty serious camber changes, and R compound tires.

The WRX is about the worst car you could start with if the skidpad is your goal. It is only pulling like .83 stock, and well modded (meaning FAST) it hits maybe .93-.95 using R compounds. Slalom speed is a better measure of handling ability for an AWD car than skidpad numbers.

I've been tested at .97g with my setup. At that time I was running the Vishnu/JIC suspension setup (7K/5K springs), 24mm rear bar, solid rear endlinks, Vishnu/JIC adjustable control and trailing arms and Toyo RA1 235x45x17.
I was talking to the tester and he mentioned that my car was bouncing a lot and would have been able to pull a little more if it was a little more stable. Since then, I figured out that a 2K difference between the front and rear is too much. That excessive bounce was removed by putting 6Ks in the rear. I haven't retested lateral g's, but my HPDE track lap times were improved by close to 1.25-1.75 seconds per lap.

check out the latest issue of (i think) car and driver. they've got an article that includes the Cobb WRX. it's got insanely wide wheels with a huge contact patch, and the car cost something like $80k to build.

Yeah ... the Cobb car is running 285s. The nice fender work was around $12K to do (they are a piece of artwork). I kinda remember hearing that each rim costed more than my complete set of 4 (with tires).

... if your only trying to beat evo's at the track or on the street.. $ invested in driving school or track time would help ALOT more.. 95% of races are won by good drivers.. not cars =D
about swaybars.. get just the rear.. the front is a PITA and most people agree that its unnecessary..
u mention that your car is lowered 1.5".. the stock shocks (which i assume you run) may cause bumpiness.. reducing cornering stability/ability.. try kyb agx's..
if skidpad #'s is all u want.. lose weight.. hehe the wrx is a pretty heavy car to be pulling 1g...
gl on your quest =)
