WRX Tranny Repaired Under Warranty
I recently took my wifes 02' WRX wagon to the dealership to have them diagnose a problem she had been having with the transmission. She was having a hell of a time getting the car into 1st and reverse would occassionally grind really bad. I dealt with Keith at Exclusively Subaru in Ontario (California) and they really took great care of us. The transmission was repaired (bad synchros) and they installed a new clutch while they were at it and charged us only for the clutch parts. This was with 49,000 miles on the car and a full turbo back exhaust. For $500.00 we got a new clutch and all of the required and related "clutch job" parts too.
The only reason I posted this is because I know that lots of people have been bashing Subaru and its dealers regarding horrid warranty work. I would like to say that my experience was excellent. My wife is once again extremely happy with her WRX and it shifts SOOO much better now. Thank you Keith and thank you Exclusively Subaru of Ontario.
Aloha

I too took my MY00 Legacy in to Ontario Subaru for coolant additive since the car overheated. Eventually Keith called me and said both head gasket would be replaced under warranty. Keep in mind, my car already had 86K mi on it. The official word from SOA was head gasket warranty would be extended to 100K after the coolant additive, however, they would only warranty it with "external leak". I guess I got a big nice break from them.
I also had them replaced the timing belt, idler pullies and they only charged me for the parts.
The only down side, the car still overheats after both head gasket, thermostat replacement. Hope Keith and their guy will have a solution for me tomorrow.
