Actually, I would take it to Walmart to have the oil changed... but last time I went, they refused to do it, since my drain plug is a "VALVE." A f***ing valve.... it can't be any easier than that. Haha.

The 0w just refers to the viscosity at cold temps - really cold (like at -20c to -40c).
The xW-30 or xW-40 refers to the viscosity at operating temps - specifically 100c.
It's very possible for a 0w-40 to be thicker than a 5w-40/10w-40 at operating temps.
It's also possible for a 0w-30 to be thicker than a 5w-30/10w-30 at operating temps.
Cool, eh?
Excuse the newb post rating...
Edit:
I use Castrol Syntec 0w-30 (Made in Germany) year-round.
If my car wasn't stock, I'd definitely use a 40 or 50 weight though.

Yeah. I doubt it'll be that hard. My aunt used to do oil changes for the whole family, and she had the Subaru before it became my dad's then mine.

I see lots of Mobil One and Royal Purple. I think I'll do one or the other. Do you guys think it'll be okay to run 5w-30 in my "L?" I see a lot of you guys running it, even though I still don't get how it works. Actually, I lie. I haven't taken the time to read the links you guys posted.

Redline 5w30 now.
Used to run 10w40 when the car ran higher oil temps in the summer/probably better for sustained loads such as on a track.
Expensive, but a group V synthetic and pretty much one of the best oils money can buy.
But its really wasted unless your car sees sustained loads or high rpm operation... the benefit to this stuff is you can run it for long oil change intervals (20k under normal conditions, though I dont ever go nearly that far, 3k for me)... Mobil 1 is fine too.
