water pump and timing belt change?
hi all my fellow suby owners i have a question. how can u check to see if ur water pump needs to be changed and timing belt? i have a warranty that is going to expire in 2000 miles so i want to have it checked and see if my warranty will cover it. last time i took it in they didnt do it because they said it was"seeping" and NOT leaking. the mechanic told me they just use different words to avoid having to fix the problem. that was 3000 miles ago when i went in. now im debating whether or not i should bring it in bc its gonna cost me for an inspection and they might not cover it. i will probably have to pay for them to pull it out and then have the inspector for the warranty company to come in and see if they will fix it. any help will be greatly appreciated.

"Seeping" is just another way of saying a slow leak. Normally nothing should be either leaking or seeping out of the pump, if it is that means it's on the way out.
The belt and pump can be inspected by removing the timing covers, although to get the center cover off requires removing the crank pulley. You should be able to see enough by removing the side covers.
If the belt is removed to replace the pump it should be replaced with a new one, even if the car doesn't have enough mileage for a scheduled replacement of the belt. Also the belt tensioner, idlers, and front crank seal can be replaced as preventive measures if you plan to keep the car and want to avoid having to pay for the same labor all over again later on.
