Want to Be Impreza Owner... 100K on a '00 RS Ok or Bad?
Hi Folks.
Great board you have here. My '97 240sx just had a battle with a guard rail in the damn New England snow. Needless to say, I'm sick of RWD, and I'm eyeing a '98-'01 Impreza 2.5RS.
I've found a few local to me on autotrader, but the mileage seems a bit too high for the prices being asked. In particular, there's a '00 4dr 5spd with 105,000 for $9250.
1st Question... Being a Subie newb... are there any problems that I should be immediately worried about with this type of mileage, or is this car just simply "broken in."
2nd Question... Should I pay a dime over 9K for a car with the mileage listed above?
Thanks in advance.

100K miles on any particular car is too much, and definitely too high for the price. And it's also hard to say something, whether if it will be a reliable car. It's just not realistic to say anything.
First thing in mind is:
How was the previous owner(s) like?
Was it on a timely manner maintenance?
Has it been in an accident? If so, how many and how severe?
Stuff like that. If I was in your shoes, I would not settle for car that has so much mileage in it. I would look around more. I'm sure you can find an Impreza for about the same price with lower mileage (30k - 50k to be exact IMO).

glad you decided to get a subaru. for the price, you can always go to kelly blueb ook's website, which is www.kbb.com it shows the value of the car..give or take a few hundred dollars, and since im so bored i went and did it for you ...keep in mind i dont know the rest of the details so im guessing ...oh actually this might notb e accurate cuz im not sure about your zip code. the price comes out to 7960...which is a lot lower than what your being asked, so ..keep looking! or try to talk the price down. usually all the 2.5rs is over in the east coast, quite hard to find one herei n teh west. good luck with your search , i hear the subaru clutch and transmission isnt the greatest, but test drive one and decide for yourself.

Thanks for the input guys! Especially with the pricing. Unfortunately, time is not on my side. I have about a week or so before I need to get a new set of wheels. Hopefully something better will come up.
I don't want to settle, but I may have to.
Thanks.

this is exactly why i got a new wrx. i was looking for used and the wrx holds it's value so well that i couldn't pass up the offer i got (invoice) for my new 05. i don't know if this holds true for the rs as well but just my 2 cents. i personally would never pay 9 g's for a car with 100k on it, u are just asking for problems especially when you can get a comparable car that isn't a subie for that and it only have 30-40k on it, just make a smart choice and good luck
