Tranny fluid on 4eat

i just reach 30.000mile and i also need to change the automatic trans fluid, i know that i need-
*internal filter
*external filter
*royal purple atf
but i have this questions,
*do i need any gaskets?
* is it easy as changing the engine oil?

from what I read you only need to change the filters when work has been done on the tranny. I read this after trying to take off the drain pan which didnt happen and trying to remove the external filter, which also didnt happen. Hopefully I didnt read flase info oh well, it'll be gone in a few months anyways

Is the 4EAT oem fluid synthetic? If its not, how do you switch over to synthetic fluid by doing the drain and fill technique?
Since the TC traps at least half of the ATF, if the OEM fluid is non-synthgetic, you wouldn't want to mix synthetic into it.
