Subaru Mechanics needed! Info on 60k Service
Hi,
So i'm in need of the 60,000 miles service soon. Based on those brochure things that dealerships send out, I've done most of the things myself. Can any knowledgeable person or subaru mechanic tell me exactly what is done/replaced at 60,000 miles because those brochures are filled with excessive things to make the price higher. THanks!

There is a service schedule in your owners manual that lists the services recommended by Subaru at the various mileage intervals. You should follow that rather than the dealer service "menus" since as you mentioned they add their own unnecessary services to increase profit. There is no reason you can't do all the things yourself as long as you have the resources (time, tools, place to work). Alternately you can go to any competent shop, it isn't necessary to have the work performed at a dealer. If warranty is a concern you just have to document that the service was done, although once past 60K your warranty is expired anyway unless you have purchased an extended one.
If you don't have your manual you can also go to www.mysubaru.com to find out what is required at 60K on your car.

our 60k's consist of:
-all diff fluid exchange (AT if you have a 4eat)
-fuel filter
-spark plugs (wrx's many cost more depending on dealerships)
-air clearner
-pcv valve
-tire rotation
-oil change
-drain and refill coolant
thats pretty much it. its not hard at all.
