Rear-ended - Need Exhaust replacement advice.
Hey all,
Got rear-ended, not too bad, but it pushed up the exhaust, kinking the pipe in front of the muffler (I am not good with terms, far from an expert *smile*). I have been told that dealer parts would be around $365 for a resonator pipe (I assume that is the midpipe between catalytic converter and muffler that is kinked) and around $330 for muffler/tailpipe kit and gaskets. This sounds high compared to what the appraiser wrote me a check for (that check also included bumper work, which I am forgoing).
Anyway, I found a Bosal midpipe and muffler kit at autopartswarehouse.com for $397.95. It looks like that would cover what I mention above, at far less the cost. Is that a good deal? Any "gotchas"? I think the local Dobb's (auto/tire place that has done decent work for me) would let me order the parts or even order it themselves without marking it up, and then install it for me.
Any advice? Something else I should consider? Would a place like Midas be able to bend/cut/reweld the kink in the midpipe and save me even more money (if I decided to go el-cheapo on my baby)?
Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
JoeK

Gah.
Though it is in my profile, I realized I should probably post pertinent specs:
-- 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
-- Existing exhaust was just standard OEM
-- No other enhancements to drive-train/exhaust system.
Thanks,
JoeK

Oops.
One more detail:
The Bosal exhaust system I found on autopartswarehouse.com is SKU 112388, if that matters. There is also a more expensive 112389 that has no picture, so not sure what that is. I would hate to order something and have it be the wrong equipment... :\
