Performance loss, hesitation, and burning oil

Hey all, I'm having a few major problems, and need some help.

Recently I noticed that I was experiencing some strange hesitation when I would try to accelerate quickly. It is usually in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear above 3500 rpms. There is also a point where the car starts to pulse. The only thing that stops it is shifting, and letting off the gas. I tried correcting the problem myself by changing the oil. When I emptied the used oil into a container, I noticed that I had burned more than half of what should have come out of the car. Since puttin gthe new oil in, I am still experiencing the hesitation. I've also started to notice a pop coming from the area around the turbo.

The car is a 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon with 144,000 miles on it. I have a SPT cold air intake on it, and I'm running the Cobb AccessPORT v3.10 91 octane ECU program.

Any help would help. I'm praying that it isn't the turbo going bad on me.

I hope it's the lesser of the two evils. Subarus are a dime a dozen here in Utah, so ifi have to pull an engine from a totaled car. If its the turbo, I'll just replace it with new.
